Texas A&M Football: 2017 midseason grades by position
By Dana Becker
Outside of a Week 1 embarrassment by Josh Rosen and UCLA, the Texas A&M secondary has looked very good. Nobody has passed for more than 264 yards since that loss, including back-to-back games of under 130 yards passing allowed vs. Alabama and Florida.
If the Aggies continue to get that kind of production out of Charles Oliver, Myles Jones, Priest Willis, Armani Watts and Larry Pryor, they are sure to be in every game through the remainder of the season.
Jones is one of a handful of freshmen seeing playing time for Texas A&M. Oliver and Pryor are both sophomores, with Watts and Willis seniors.
Best Game
Texas A&M came to play vs. Florida two weeks ago, limiting the Gators to 17 of 26 passing for 129 yards and no touchdowns. Watts had an interception to go along with his five tackles. Debione Renfro and Derrick Turner, two more freshmen, each made six tackles in the win.
The unit also held Alabama to 59 percent passing and 123 yards.
Worst Game
The easiest to pick out of all these different items, as Josh Rosen picked the Aggies apart for 491 yards and four passing touchdowns in a 45-44 victory. Texas A&M appeared poised to start the year with a win before Rosen went to work.
The team allowed him to complete almost 60 percent of his throws, a number only topped by Louisiana Lafayette and Florida in weeks after.
