Texas football came away with a heartbreaking defeat against the Oklahoma State Cowboys that pushed the Longhorns to a losing record.

Texas football underwent possibly the toughest loss of any team in the nation in Week 8. The Longhorns could not seal the overtime victory against the Oklahoma State Cowboys as freshman quarterback Sam Ehlinger tossed an interception that ended things in Austin.

Oklahoma State stayed alive in both the Big 12 Championship race the in the College Football Playoff picture as well. Both Oklahoma State and the Oklahoma Sooners are trying to stay alive in the Playoff race behind the TCU Horned Frogs. The Sooners have not played the Frogs while Oklahoma State has already lost to them.

Meanwhile, Texas faces an uphill battle again to make a bowl game this year. First-year head coach Tom Herman has definitely made some strides with the Horns, but there’s still a long way to go. Texas had a big chance to land its signature victory under Herman against the Pokes but could not finish things out for the second overtime loss of the season for them.

Possibly the best offense in the nation in Oklahoma State was completely shut down by the Longhorns as the final score was a very surprising 13-10 result. It’s the first time that the Pokes were held under 31 points this season.

While Oklahoma State racked up its sixth win of the year, Texas lost its fourth game. The other losses that Texas has this year have come against the Maryland Terrapins, USC Trojans, and Oklahoma. Despite the loss, things still look to be headed in the right direction with the Horns.

Now, let’s take a look at five overreactions from the Texas loss to Oklahoma State in Week 8.
