2. A.J. Brown will suffer after Patterson injury

Ole Miss seems to always have a deep receiving corps. This year is no different. A.J. Brown got off to the hottest start of any receiver in the nation through the first three weeks. Yet, things have slowed way down for Brown since then.

Freshman D.K. Metcalf led the Rebels with 107 receiving yards. Van Jefferson, DaMarkus Lodge, and Octavius Cooley all have more receiving yards with Jordan Ta’amu under center as well. Ta’amu might just need some time to get comfortable.

There was a high level of chemistry that Brown and Patterson had going between them. That could continue when Patterson gets back for his junior campaign. For now, Brown’s stat line should see a dramatic drop in production.

Ole Miss, as a whole, does not have much left to play for. This is a young and talented receiving corps without a consistent option at quarterback to throw to them. Ta’amu is more of a dual-threat quarterback than a pocket-passer.
