1. Iowa State is good for college football

How can you not love college football? When the season began it was Alabama and Florida State destined for a rematch in the College Football Playoff. Now Florida State is 2-5 and will most likely see their streak of 35 consecutive bowl experiences snapped. That was impossible nine weeks ago, but then again, so was what Iowa State did on Saturday afternoon in Ames.

The Cyclones pulled off their second Top-10 upset of the season, downing TCU 14-7. This one was special because it came in front of their home crowd at Jack Trice Stadium.

Iowa State dropped their conference opener 17-7 to Texas on Oct. 7. Since then the Cyclones have rattled off four consecutive Big 12 wins and find themselves in first place in the Big 12 after Week 9. It’s things like that which make college football great. In college football it’s not only possible for David to beat Goliath, he can do it twice in the matter of four weeks.

When the College Football Playoff rankings are released for the first time on Halloween the Cyclones will more than likely find themselves outside the top 10. There won’t be much confidence that the Cyclones can keep this up outside of Ames. Yet with each successive win, the Cyclones will start to look more and more like Cinderella.

Iowa State plays at West Virginia in Week 10.
