Coming off wins over Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Indiana, the Spartans head to Evanston, Illinois to meet Northwestern in a Big Ten showdown. However, as important as playing the Wildcats is to the conference title hopes of Sparty, what comes over the next two weeks could ultimately decide their season.
Michigan State welcomes Penn State to East Lansing next weekend before heading to Ohio State on November 11. Those two, who are both ranked inside the Top-10, play each other Saturday in Columbus.
While the “experts” believe the Spartans are a year away with a group of young players, there is the saying of “no time like the present” as well to keep in thoughts as we finish out October and head to the final month of the regular season.
For Northwestern, they have scored back-to-back wins over Maryland and Iowa after losses to Wisconsin and Penn State. Pat Fitzgerald has his team playing as good as ever, and they finish with four winnable games on the schedule in Nebraska, Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois.
That means this is also an important game for the Wildcats, who are 4-3 on the year.
