Kentucky pulled out the close win over Tennessee football in the fourth quarter, 29-26. What did we learn from the Volunteers’ loss?

Kentucky hadn’t beaten Tennessee in what seems like forever, but tonight the streak came to an end. The Wildcats struggled greatly throughout the four quarters but fought back like any good team does to pull off a great win.

After not being able to convert a third-down in the fourth quarter, Kentucky not only converted but then found a way to get to the end-zone. As great as their efforts were to win this game, the focus will be on the team that was across the field from the victor.

As we look at this game it’s hard to ignore very obvious storylines. The questions for the future don’t end with how Kentucky will capitalize off this win. Tennessee has questions of their own as they sit at 3-5. Here are my quick takeaways from the great Kentucky win over Tennessee.

3. Kentucky’s offense could have come up huge

OK, before I start this, let me say that Kentucky got a great program win. As great as it was, these three points the Wildcats won by could have easily been bigger had they not given four fumbles to the Volunteers.

Now, Wildcat fans may take this as a negative point but what I am actually saying is that going forward, if they can clean that up, then Kentucky is gonna be dangerous. They could have easily dominated the Vols in an embarrassing manner tonight.

The MVP of this game is without a doubt sophomore running back, Benny Snell Jr. He showed his confidence and ability to lead this team to the victory with 180 yards and three touchdowns.

Before we move on there is one more player that deserves some attention from the Wildcats and that is the senior quarterback Stephen Johnson due to the huge effort he put into getting the game-winning touchdown in the final moments of the fourth quarter.
