 1. Josh Jackson doesn’t need to be perfect

At this point, it’s become fairly obvious that Justin Fuente doesn’t mind relying heavily on his true freshman quarterback. However, he isn’t going to throw for 250-plus yards and a couple of touchdowns every week. Saturday’s game against Duke wasn’t his best, but he still managed to lead this offense to three touchdowns and a win.

Jackson’s completion rate was under 50 percent for the first time this season, but the inclement weather may have had something to do with that. He did pass for 200 yards and a touchdown with no interceptions, but wasn’t his normal dominant self.

The freshman quarterback from Ann Arbor, Mich., did break some records during the win over Duke, though. In fact, he surpassed Michael Vick’s single-season freshman passing yards record in the first half and is on pace to finish with about 3,000 on the year.

Although he still had a decent game, yardage-wise, he didn’t play his normal game but the Hokies still found a way to win. That goes to show just how strong and balanced this team is.
