2. Houston shocked the world

Houston came into the game with a 4-3 overall record and was 2-2 in the AAC. The Cougars weren’t looked at like the teams of the last two years, so honestly not many expected them to knock off No. 17 USF. They shocked the Bulls 28-24 on the road Saturday afternoon. Now they are 5-3 overall and 3-2 in the AAC and only one win away from becoming bowl eligible.

Sophomore quarterback D’Eriq King replaced Kyle Postma against USF and the young man did his thing. He went 12-for-20 through the air for 137 yards and a touchdown. He also had 83 yards on 20 carries and two touchdowns.

King had 220 total yards and three touchdowns — not bad for his first major game action. He made countless big plays to help his team upset a nationally-ranked opponent.

Houston the city has went through some tough times due to hurricanes earlier in the football season, so it’s cool to see the football team get some shine. They lost their head coach to Texas and now Major Applewhite has made his mark on his new team.

Congrats to Houston. I can’t lie, I didn’t think you were going to beat USF today but I was wrong.
