Kevin Sumlin’s hot seat got a bit hotter after Texas A&M’s disastrous loss to Mississippi State. The Bulldogs rolled past the Aggies 35-14.
For Kevin Sumlin to feel that his job was safe, the Aggies likely needed to win out following the loss to Alabama. That will not be the case as the Aggies fell, embarrassingly to unranked Mississippi State. That is 11 straight SEC West games at Kyle Field the Aggies have lost. Not exactly something to be proud of.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs had not won, or lost, a game by less than 25 points this season. That changed on Saturday night, but not by much. They beat the Aggies by a resounding 21 points to win their third straight game.
The season is far from over for Texas A&M which is only one win away from bowl eligibility with four games left to play. However, confidence took a big hit on Saturday night in what will likely be the last night game at Kyle Field for the 2017 season.
The Aggies will welcome Auburn to Kyle Field at 12 p.m. ET Saturday, looking for a win over a team that is firing on all cylinders. While the Aggies posses the talent on both sides of the ball required to make some noise the rest of the season, struggling with the likes of Mississippi State doesn’t bode well for what is left.
However, before we can focus on next week, we do have to sadly talk about this past week. Here are my five overreactions from Texas A&M’s loss at home to the Bulldogs.
