2. The Irish rushing attack is one of the best

There are a lot of good running backs in college football. From Stanford’s Bryce Love to Penn State’s Saquon Barkley the debate will continue to rage on as to which back is the best of the best. One thing that all of those teams lack is the dynamic presence of Brandon Wimbush in the backfield.

LSU’s Danny Etling doesn’t dissuade defenses from stacking the box against Derrius Guice, nor does Alex Hornibrook scare teams from selling out to stop Jonathan Taylor. Eventually those elite backs are going to run into a defense that shuts them down. You saw that when Barkley squared off against Ohio State in Week 9. Outside of one long touchdown run, the Buckeyes shut him down.

Teams can’t sell out to stop Josh Adams in the same way. He has the added benefit of having Wimbush along side of him, keeping defenses honest. Wimbush has three 100-yard rushing games on the season so far and his most recent such performance came against USC.
