3. Their resume is only going to get better

Alabama has been a college football powerhouse for a decade. If anyone has earned the benefit of the doubt its Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide. But the committee wasn’t impressed by wins over Texas A&M and Tennessee. The Tide have no wins over currently ranked teams.

Contrast that with the wins the Irish have already accrued. Notre Dame has wins over Michigan State, USC and NC State all checking in the College Football Playoff rankings at No. 24, No. 17 and No. 20 respectively.

The team isn’t going to stop there. If Notre Dame wins out there is no way that any committee member can justify leaving them out of the field. They have games remaining against No. 10 Miami and No. 21 Stanford. Even their unranked opponents, Wake Forest and Navy, aren’t pushovers.

When it comes to comparing resumes there isn’t any better right now than Notre Dame’s. If they had beaten they would be the No. 1 team in the nation right now. All they have to do is take care of business and the Irish will be in the College Football Playoff field for the first time in school history.
