Ole Miss Football: Jordan Wilkins rounding out his career the right way
With nearly 600 rushing yards through eight games played, running back Jordan Wilkins is finishing his career in great fashion with Ole Miss football.
Ole Miss football had a big letdown in Week 9 against the Arkansas Razorbacks. It was by no fault of senior running back Jordan Wilkins. He did his job in terms of getting the Rebels the victory over the Hogs.
Wilkins rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on 16 carries for Ole Miss. Most of those 118 yards came on a 64 yard scamper for a touchdown in the first half of the contest. He also added another 24 receiving yards on one catch.
Recently, Wilkins has been hot what is going to be the last few games of his career in Oxford. It’s great to see a player like this finish out his college career on such a high-note, especially with him missing the entire 2016 campaign due to academic ineligibility. Wilkins also got off to a slow start to begin the 2017 season.
In the last five games, Wilkins has rushed for at least 100 yards in three of them and has combined for four touchdowns. He’s by far the leading rusher for the Rebels. Ole Miss does not have much in the way of running back depth behind Wilkins. Sophomore running back Eric Swinney is the team’s second leading rusher with much less than 200 yards on the year.
This Ole Miss team is going to need Wilkins’ experience more than ever down the stretch. With star sophomore quarterback Shea Patterson missing the rest of the season, former JUCO transfer Jordan Ta’amu needs Wilkins’ presence to get more comfortable in this offense.

Even though it’s been an interesting development, Wilkins is a valuable piece to this offense. The transition into the 2018 season will start to take shape at the end of this regular season.
