4. Stanford goes 2-2 in November

As mentioned, three of the four November matchups for the Cardinal are against ranked teams, starting with No. 25 Washington State this Saturday on the road. Luckily for Stanford, Saturday’s contest against the Cougars is the team’s last road game of the season as they finish up the year with three straight home games against Washington, Notre Dame, and California.

If there is anything this year’s college football season has proven is that anything can happen and just because a team is highly ranked, does not make anyone invincible — except maybe Alabama. The rigorous schedule that awaits the Cardinal in November is sure to pose some problems and it will certainly be hard for them to come out without a loss.

Stanford is coming off a season where they went 2-2 against these same groups of teams in 2016. The Cardinal defeated Notre Dame and California last year, while losing to both of the schools up north in Washington and Washington State. This season, there will be more on the line as the Cardinal — along with Notre Dame and Washington — are vying for College Football Playoff positioning, as well as conference bragging rights and titles.

Having been much more improved this year, the Cardinal might not be happy with a 2-2 November showing and have their sights much higher in how they come out of the end of the month.
