Can Michigan State make the Playoff?

Bleak and unlikely are two words that best describe the Spartans chances to make a late Playoff surge. But, college football is a game filled with plenty of chaos and moving parts. The Spartans won’t know whether or not their best will good enough but this team doesn’t have an ounce of quit in their bodies.

Head coach Mark Dantonio has done an incredible job with this team. Coming off a 3-9 season in 2016 the Spartans were expected to climb back into bowl contention, not the Playoff hunt. Instead this team is bowl eligible after just eight games and will be ready to give Penn State a test in Week 10.

That’s what this team is going to do, they’ll fight. They will grind their way through the final four games of their schedule. Once they do that they will look up at the rankings and see what the committee has decided to do with them, not before. The 2017 Spartans are ahead of schedule, but they aren’t going to let that distract them from the opportunity at hand.

After their game against the Nittany Lions in Week 10 this team will either be in the Top 15 or out of the Playoff hunt entirely. Ohio State just proved that Penn State is vulnerable, especially on the offensive line. Everything is on the line for the Spartans, but that doesn’t mean they wont be ready.

As things stand, we’ll put Michigan State’s chances to make the College Football Playoff at 10 percent.
