3. The Irish post over 450 rushing yards

Wake Forest comes in at 88th in the nation in rushing yards allowed per game, making them the worst rushing defense faced by the Irish outside of only North Carolina (108) and Boston College (110). The Irish witnessed their top rushing performances of the season against Temple and Boston College, setting up for another solid outing against a similar defense in Wake Forest.

However, unlike most of Notre Dame’s competition this season, the Demon Deacons will face the Irish with a completely healthy defensive front. This may contribute to a more united effort from Wake Forest, but their outlook still looks dim against one of the nation’s most formidable rushing attacks.

Notre Dame’s Week 7 bye did their backfield well, allowing both Josh Adams and change-of-pace back Dexter Williams the ability to nurse their respective ankle injuries back to health. Adams has returned to form over the past couple weeks, combining for just short of 400 yards over his last two games.

While quarterback Brandon Wimbush took a backseat in last week’s run game, he still managed to display his solid rushing ability with a 106 yard performance against USC. Expect the Irish to look to the ground game early and often Saturday, setting up the Irish backfield for another historic outing.
