The 2018 NFL Draft is still a few months out, but UCLA football‘s starting quarterback Josh Rosen already has a great chance to be the first player taken.

UCLA football has a great chance to produce the No. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. The quarterback debate in the first round has come between UCLA’s Josh Rosen, USC’s Sam Darnold, and Wyoming’s Josh Allen. Rosen is the only one of those three that has been reliable and productive for his squad this year. UCLA would not be the same without him.

However, with the 2018 NFL Draft inching closer and closer, the time for speculation is here. A quarterback might not be the first player taken in the upcoming NFL Draft. Last year, it was the Cleveland Browns drafting former Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett with the No. 1 overall pick.

Former Cal quarterback Jared Goff was the last quarterback selected with the first overall pick. The Los Angeles Rams were the team that selected Goff, and it looks like a good move right now with how good they’re doing. Goff was somewhat of a controversial pick with an extended development time.

Darnold was expected to be the clear option for No. 1 overall pick in 2018. Yet, a turnover prone season has knocked his status quite a bit. Moreover, Allen has not played well at all against Power Five competition in his career. The emergence of other quarterbacks like Oklahoma State’s Mason Rudolph, Auburn’s Jarrett Stidham, West Virginia’s Will Grier, and Washington State’s Luke Falk could shake things up a bit.

Now, let’s take a look at five reasons why UCLA’s Josh Rosen will be the first overall pick taken in the 2018 NFL Draft.
