2. Josh Jackson throws more interceptions than touchdown passes

Miami is much more “back” than a year ago and it isn’t even fully back yet. The Hurricanes’ defense, however, is playing at a high level and creating turnovers which is a Manny Diaz trademark.

Diaz’s defense has broken out their ‘Turnover Chain’ quite a bit in 2017 and have intercepted quarterbacks seven times over the last two games. Syracuse quarterback Eric Dungey, a great player in his own right, threw four interceptions against Miami in the first half in Week 8.

Jackson is a great passer, that’s not in question, but he is just a redshirt freshman, playing in a rivalry matchup in what should be a humid hostile environment. Jackson throws two touchdowns, one to Phillips, but also adds three interceptions (Sheldrick Redwine, Malek Young, and Jaquon Johnson) to seal the Hokies’ fate against Miami.

The issue will be getting either running game going enough to take pressure off of their quarterback as Homer and Walton had ran more successfully than the trio from Blacksburg, but with Mark Walton out, Travis Homer is carrying a heavy load in Coral Gables.
