1. Mark Richt Relies on Run-Pass Options

Miami has waffled on their use of run pass options or RPOs over the past two seasons. At times, Mark Richt has used them wonderfully to help empty the box and allow Miami running backs to move the football.

Then, at times, they’ve been non-existent against a stacked box where Mark Walton or Travis Homer have had to run into eight defenders that all know Miami repeatedly calls for inside zone on first-and-10.

If Richt digs deep into his RPO playbook, especially adding wrinkles beyond the stalk-bubble combination he has ran excessively over the two seasons, Miami can neutralize the aggressive Hokies defense and give Homer the chance to run the football.

Miami will not beat the Hokies relying solely on the passing game of Malik Rosier. Jeff Thomas has had some nice deep catches, and Ahmmon Richards is highly capable, but the star of last year’s match-up for Miami was the utility H-Back Christopher Herndon IV who also had a big play against the Tar Heels in Week 9.

Rosier and Jackson will have to step up for their respective teams in order for them to win. I personally am taking the bold prediction that Rosier comes out on top once again, pitting an undefeated Miami team against the one-loss Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
