Ole Miss Football: 5 bold predictions for November 2017
1. Ole Miss has a new head coach before December
It’s a foregone conclusion that a new official head coach will take the reigns of this program soon. Whether interim coach Matt Luke keeps the job or a new person is brought in, I believe it’ll happen before the calendar turns to December.
To start, Ole Miss has had a significant head start to other programs in their evaluations of prospective head coaches. We could discuss who is and isn’t being considered for the job, but that’s another article for another day.
Ole Miss has to get this hire right to get their program back to the levels it was at in 2014 and 2015. Once the final second of the Egg Bowl with Mississippi State ticks off, it’ll be go time in getting a new coach hired. Athletic Director Ross Bjork has to get this done as soon as possible to save the 2018 recruiting class.
The coaching search by this time will know who it can realistically go after because by this time the sanctions from the COI will be in. Not to mention Ole Miss would like to lock up a top candidate before more major programs become open. The Florida job is already open and other top SEC programs will be open by the end of the month.

It isn’t the biggest of bold predictions, but it is the most important prediction for the future of the Ole Miss football program.
