Best ESPN College GameDay signs Week 10: Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State
By Tim Kaiser
College GameDay is in Stillwater for Oklahoma vs. Oklahoma State. Let’s see how the Cowboys’ fanbase did with their College GameDay signs for Bedlam.
Last week was a bit of a down week for College GameDay signs in Columbus. You can’t really blame the Buckeyes fans though. It hovered around freezing for the entire broadcast and alternated between rain and snow. That’s not the best weather for posterboard and hungover college students. Oklahoma State has no such excuse. It’s a perfect fall day for college football and GameDay.
This is College GameDay’s sixth time bringing the show to Stilwater and sixth time covering Bedlam. Oddly, five of the six times GameDay has showcased the Oklahoma-Oklahoma State game it has been on the Cowboys’ home turf. GameDay last broadcasted from Oklahoma State for the 2015 edition of Bedlam, a 58-23 Sooners win. Oklahoma is 5-0 in the rivalry when GameDay shows up.
No. 5 Oklahoma and No. 11 Oklahoma State enter this year’s version of Bedlam with matching 7-1 overall records and 4-1 in the Big 12. They are currently in a four-way tie at the top of the Big 12 with TCU and Iowa State. The Cowboys are just a 1.5-point favorite. While the teams appear evenly matched this season, Oklahoma has dominated the rivalry historically, leading the series 86-18-7.
The Cowboys’ faithful has a target-rich environment this week. The opposing quarterback is always a target of derision, but Baker Mayfield provides more ammunition than most. Mayfield infamously was arrested in Fayetteville Arkansas in the offseason and the video of the takedown was made public. Oklahoma State fans have to worry most about not being derivative. Ohio State fans got the first crack at the Heisman-hopeful quarterback in Week 2 and did not go easy on him.
