Boise State Football 2017: Broncos bowl over Nevada in Week 10
Since picking up their second loss, Boise State Football has reeled off five straight in their quest for a Mountain West Championship.
As things stand right now it looks like the Broncos might be out of the running for a New Year’s Six Bowl. The Group of 5 still has one undefeated representative, Central Florida. Even if they do stumble, there are several 1-loss teams above the Broncos in the pecking order. But all that Boise State can do right now is keep winning, and that’s exactly what they’ve done.
Boise State has thumped each of their last five opponents. None of them has scored more than 14 points on the Broncos’ defense. That includes a Wyoming team led by potential first-round NFL Draft selection Josh Allen.
It was another dominant performance for the team in Week 10. Quarterback Brett Rypien threw for 258 yards on 20-of-27 passing with two touchdowns. Running back Alexander Mattison added 64 yards on the ground and another two touchdowns. Nevada took a brief 14-10 lead early in the second quarterback before Boise State responded with 31 unanswered points to seal the victory.
The defense was equally impressive, intercepting Nevada quarterback Ty Gangi three times. They held the Wolfpack to 38.5 percent on third down and forced two of their turnovers on third down.
With the win the Broncos improve to 5-0 in the Mountain West Mountain division. They have two conference games remaining. Boise State will host Air Force in Week 11 before concluding their regular season slate against Fresno State on the road.

The Bulldogs currently lead the West division and could potentially rematch with the Broncos in the Mountain West Championship game. A win in that game would give them their 14th 10-win season since 2000.
