Florida State Football 2017: Seminoles stave off bowl elimination

Florida State football faced a must win game against Syracuse in Week 10. That just about sums up how this season is going for the Noles. What did we learn?

Florida State (2-5) entering their Week 10 game hoping to prevent an already challenging season from becoming even more painful. The Noles had just lost consecutive games to Louisville and Boston College and sat in dead last in the ACC Atlantic standings.

Syracuse (4-4) was fourth in the standings, just a half game behind Boston College for third place in the division. Both teams have their eyes set on a earning a bowl berth but the Noles had a bit more work to do to get there.

The game was all Florida State early. Justin Blackman connected with Nyqwan Murray for a 51 yard touchdown reception. The second FSU touchdown would come from the other side of the field as well when Cam Akers took a handoff 54 yards for a score to start the second quarter.

Syracuse would battle back, cutting the deficit to 21-14 heading into half time. None of the first five touchdowns of the game were scored inside the redzone. There were plenty of fireworks up to the final whistle when Syracuse missed the potential game-tying field goal allowing the Noles to escape with a 3-point victory.
