The top ranked Georgia football stood tall against the South Carolina Gamecocks. They once again proved they’re legit as the season winds down.

Shocking quite a few people, the Georgia Bulldogs found themselves a top the first College Football Playoff rankings of 2017. However, this team is for real and they showed that once again on Saturday afternoon against South Carolina.

The Gamecocks hung around at the start, but ultimately it was Jake Fromm and his offense that would win the day. That is not to take anything away from the Georgia defense, a unit that has been strong and fierce week in and week out, but the offense took care of business.

The Gamecocks haven’t been the strongest team in the SEC this season by any stretch of the imagination. However, they put up a fight in Athens on Saturday. While a lot of this post will be singing the praises of the Georgia Bulldogs, one cannot ignore the Gamecocks completely.

The Gamecocks have a lot of positive aspects to build on in the coming seasons, however it was not enough to get a victory on Saturday afternoon in Athens. They have a strong, intelligent quarterback who is getting better week in and week out. They have a talented defensive front that simply got worn down by the Georgia offense. While it wasn’t enough, there was a lot to be proud of if you’re a Gamecock fan.

All of that being said, here are my three takeaways from the CBS Game of the Week.
