Riley Ferguson and Memphis football just keep winning, taking down Tulsa in convincing fashion on Friday night.

The Tigers (7-1, 4-1 American) picked up their fifth consecutive victory with a convincing 41-14 victory over Tulsa Friday night.

Ferguson, the former Tennessee quarterback, completed 2- of-39 for 298 yards with four touchdowns, with Darrell Henderson adding 123 yards on the ground and 50 more on six catches with a score.

When the first College Football Playoff rankings were released earlier this week, Memphis checked in at No. 23. To reach one of the coveted New Year’s bowls, they will need to keep winning and get some help.

Some of that could come next week, as the Tigers welcome American West rival SMU for a key showdown.

Tulsa, meanwhile, remains in a slump. Luke Skipper threw for 157 yards and D’Angelo Brewer ran for 119, but the Golden Hurricane could not do enough to avoid their third consecutive defeat.

Entering the night, Tulsa was ranked 12th in the nation, averaging 260 yards rushing per game. While Brewer racked up 119, the rest of the team managed just 26.
