1. Defense wins championships and Ole Miss doesn’t have much of one

It is no secret that Ole Miss has quite the offense. Whether Shea Patterson or Jordan Ta’amu is under center, this team can out gain and out score you without blinking an eye. The issue? They don’t have a strong enough defense to match that.

The team who just mounted a comeback against Kentucky also blew a 24 point lead to Arkansas a week ago. They gave up 455 yards of total offense to the Wildcats and took until the very last second to solidify the win.

The Ole Miss defense will need to step it up as they face the likes of Texas A&M and Mississippi State in the upcoming weeks, both teams that have a pretty strong run game established so far this season. Ole Miss’ rush defense leaves a lot to be desired, as shown by Benny Snell’s three touchdown performance on Saturday. If the Rebels want to compete once their post season ban comes to an end, they have to find a defense and fast.
