2. The future is bright with Devon Modster

No, Devon Modster is not Josh Rosen. The latter happens to be one of the top 2018 NFL Draft prospects in the country and might even be considered the quarterback with the highest ceiling, but he didn’t make the trip to Salt Lake City on Friday night, leaving starting duties to Modster.

The redshirt freshman has a bight future with the Bruins and fans can rest easy knowing that he has the potential to lead this offense effectively. Although he didn’t get a win in his first start with the Bruins, he also wasn’t rattled by the road atmosphere.

In fact, he started with game 7-for-7 passing with 101 yards and a touchdown, looking like a budding star and only trailing by seven points. However, he only threw five more passes in the second half, going 1-for-5 with two yards before leaving with a thumb injury.

You might look at the final score and realize Modster got his first start for the Bruins and think he struggled mightily, but that wasn’t the case. If not for the Bruins’ lackluster defense and if Modster remained healthy, the outcome could have been very different. Why didn’t he get more chances to throw? That’s a good question, but the future is bright.
