A full schedule filled with upsets also provided the stage for some record-breaking days. SMQ looks deeper into three records that fell in Week 10.

College football is fun in part because it gives us weekends like the one we got to experience in Week 10, where a half-dozen games featured teams ranked in the College Football Playoff Top 25. The fun, though, extended far beyond just the high-profile matchups. There was excitement to be found not only in games with national title implications but also those contests featuring smaller schools.

Part of the fun is also getting to see records set and broken, and seeing streaks come to an end. We got to experience several high-profile records tumbling over the weekend, adding depth and nuance to an already exciting slate of games. This week, Sunday Morning Quarterback is going to focus on those individual and team performances that linger far beyond the weekends in which they occur.

Today, let’s focus on the FBS record book.

Each year, the NCAA releases updated record books containing a wealth of information about the greatest single-game, season-long, and career performances by players at every level of college football. You can also find information about team records and team streaks in the guides.

The 2017 Football Bowl Subdivision Records contain nearly 200 pages of information. Next year, the book will have to be updated once again thanks to several amazing performances in Week 10 by both individuals and teams.

Even though the book contains so much information, not everything is contained within its (digital) covers. Some streaks, after all, occur in real time before anyone even thinks to write them down in the historical record. We saw one of those streaks come to an end in Week 10, and another continue to grow.

With that in mind, let’s dive in and take a deeper look at a couple of national records that were set this weekend along with one record streak that finally came to an improbable end. Keep reading for more information about a quartet of new records in the latest edition of Sunday Morning Quarterback.
