4. Nick Saban completely out-coached Ed Orgeron

Nick Saban is the almighty king of college football. That’s not even debatable. However, the game plan design and execution didn’t exactly pan out this time. Coaches can only do so much from the sideline. Players are gonna decide games for sure.

Coach Ed Orgeron came in and had his team ready. In fact, a case can be made that LSU outplayed Alabama on the box score at least. LSU won the time of possession, total yards, and third down efficiency. The one key stat that Alabama did win was the penalty comparison. Alabama only committed one penalty the whole game.

The fact is, Alabama just wore down LSU. The Tigers simply could not come up with the huge play and that’s the difference.
