It has been a pretty uneventful season for the Notre Dame receiver group, as Wimbush and Adams have dominated the headlines.

But sophomore Chase Claypool had himself a day against Wake Forest.

The 6-foot-4 native of Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada had career-highs in receptions, yards and his second career touchdown. He finished the game with nine grabs totaling 180 yards, good for 20 yards per catch.

Earlier this year, Claypool had four grabs for 56 yards, but had not caught more than three passes in any other game this year or racked up more than 36 yards.

Wimbush and his replacement, Book, both found comfort with Claypool and that could be huge moving forward for the Irish.

The play of Claypool could also help light a spark for junior Equanimeous St. Brown, who has just 289 yards after recording 961 a year ago. Kevin Stepherson’s output is also down from 462 yards to 101.
