Arkansas Football: 5 reasons Bielema’s job can’t be saved
The head coach of Arkansas football, Bret Bielema, is skating on very thin ice as the end of the 2017 college football season is around the corner.
Arkansas football has to deal with the problem that is head coach Bret Bielema and what the future of the program will look like. After two straight one-point victories, the Hogs could still manage to make it to a bowl game this season. Arkansas would have to beat the Mississippi State Bulldogs or the Missouri Tigers to round out the regular season.
Bielema has done a decent job with the Hogs up to this point. This season has not gone as planned in Fayetteville. Arkansas was embarrassed by the Auburn Tigers for the second straight year. The South Carolina Gamecocks, Alabama Crimson Tide, and TCU Horned Frogs also handled the Hogs this season.
Expectations are consistently high for all programs in the SEC West. It’s hard to win in the division when Nick Saban is not your coach. Finishing near the bottom of the division still means a bowl game will be made most of the time. It is always one of the toughest divisions in play in college football.
However, that does not mean that losing games that should be win is excused. With a down season expected from the Ole Miss Rebels, no one else should have finished in the basement of the SEC West. There’s just too much to play for and so much pressure to at least get bowl eligible.
Arkansas is not traditionally the strongest program in the conference. Yet, fans have expectations of at least being a contender to win the SEC every once in a while. Bielema has consistently led them to bowl eligibility, but not much more.
Now, let’s take a look at five reasons Bret Bielema’s job cannot be saved with the Arkansas Razorbacks.
