If Notre Dame football’s Josh Adams win the Heisman Trophy in 2017, he would be the first Irish player to do so since Tim Brown in 1987.

No. 3 Notre Dame football is putting on a show for the rest of the college football world right now. Junior quarterback Brandon Wimpish and junior running back Josh Adams are one of the best duos in the nation and some defenses have figured that out the hard way.

Adams’ name is getting thrown around right now with some real Heisman hype. He did suffer a setback in Notre Dame’s win over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons in Week 10 due to an injured ankle. Yet, he should be back and ready to go, according to head coach Brian Kelly and Notre Dame Insider, for Week 11.

In Week 11, the Fighting Irish take on the No. 7 ranked Miami Hurricanes in the game of the weekend. Miami is coming off a monumental victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies. Head coach Mark Richt has his alma mater back on track in just his second season with the program.

This will be a huge opportunity for Adams to show he is healthy and put on a show on the national stage against the Canes. When he’s been fully healthy and ready to go, Adams plays like one of the best rushers in the nation. And, his stats reflect that.

If Notre Dame takes down Miami in Week 11, the schedule gets much easier the rest of the way and Adams would start to garner even more hype. The rest of the schedules holds a home matchup with the Navy Midshipmen and a road game against the Stanford Cardinal.

Here are five reasons why Notre Dame’s Josh Adams can win the Heisman Trophy in 2017.
