2. Notre Dame is firmly in the College Football Playoff picture

The huge issue for Kelly and the Irish in 2016 behind former quarterback DeShone Kizer was the record. Notre Dame had one of its worst finishes in recent memory with only four wins. However, the Irish have been one of the best comeback stories of this year.

Last year saw Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson take home the Heisman. Yet, it took him a record breaking season statistically to do that with a nine-win Louisville squad. The Alabama Crimson Tide have a plethora of Heisman winners of late because of the program’s pedigree.

Notre Dame has the brand name to easily put someone in the running for the Heisman. Adams has both the stat line and the marketability from the program he plays for. His production has helped Notre Dame to its currently No. 3 ranking and being firmly planted in the field for the Playoff.

If Notre Dame wins out, its in the Playoff, no doubt about it. The only loss this year came to the No. 1 team in the country in the Georgia Bulldogs, and that was a one point defeat that could have gone either way. Alabama, Georgia, and Notre Dame are the three obvious choices for the Playoff and no player on the Notre Dame roster benefits from that more than Adams.
