The word resume gets thrown around a lot in the back end of the season. Here’s the best College Football Playoff resume-building win for each Top 25 team.

A big key in deciding where teams are ranked is the quality of their wins. The Playoff committee wants to see impressive wins over teams they deem as “quality opponents”. Teams such as Central Florida and Memphis boast impressive records, but aren’t ranked higher because of the lack of competition they have played.

So let’s get down to the details. Here’s the best win that every member of the top 25 has. Some are no-brainers, but a few on the list and may surprise you.

Best Win: No. 12 Michigan State

The Wildcats best win was (surprise) an overtime thriller against Mark Dantonio and company in Evanston. Clayton Thorson was magnificent in the game, passing for 356 yards and two touchdowns in the game. This will likely stay as Northwestern’s best win as they close the season out with Purdue, Minnesota and Illinois.

Best Win: No. 10 Auburn

Two weeks removed from their inexplicable loss to Troy, LSU shocked Auburn for a confidence-boosting 27-23 win. The win helped put the Tigers season back on track and showcased the leadership of starting quarterback Danny Etling. “We’re just becoming a football team. Our whole staff is galvanized. Our whole football team is galvanized”, Orgeron said after the win, since then LSU’s only loss was 14 point loss to No. 2 Alabama.

Best Win: Louisville

NC State introduced themselves to the playoff conversation after shutting down Heisman Trophy winner Lamar Jackson and Louisville in their 39-25 victory. The Wolfpack had their chances to pick up wins against No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 4 Clemson, but couldn’t quite cash in. Quarterback Ryan Finley shined for the Wolfpack in their win against the Cardinals.
