These five schools might not make the 2017 College Football Playoff, but they could have a big say in determining who does or does not get into the top four.

At this point, just five teams remain unbeaten in the race to reach the fourth annual College Football Playoff. Eight more teams currently have a single defeat on their records. A perfect or near-perfect record isn’t a prerequisite for getting into the semifinals, of course. But in the first three seasons of the new system, no team has reached the final four with two or more losses on their record.

Alabama and Georgia are on a collision course to play one another in the SEC championship game as the top two teams in the country. Wisconsin looks unlikely to fall in the Big Ten East race. Miami is rolling through the ACC and has a chance to make a statement this weekend against independent Notre Dame. And UCF is the lone Group of Five squad without a loss to its name.

What, though, could upend the pecking order in the various league races? Could surprise conference champions still emerge from the various league battles around the country? Which circuits seem most in danger of falling out of the College Football Playoff picture altogether?

Keep reading for more on five teams that could disrupt the system in 2017 and emerge as Playoff Busters.
