TCU football is aiming for a Big 12 championship and possibly more if they can make the College Football Playoff.

In 2016, TCU football struggled throughout the year with inconsistency. They finished the season at 6-7 with a loss in the Liberty Bowl against Georgia. Most pre-season predictions had the Horned Frogs bouncing back in 2017. Anywhere from eight to ten wins would be a solid year for them. Staying in the top three of the Big 12 standings would also mean the program was back on track after a down season.

The non-conference schedule featured a lot of points and a 3-0 record as TCU beat Jackson State, Arkansas and Southern Methodist by a combined score of 147-43.

The season’s first test would come at Oklahoma State and the Horned Frogs would pass with a 44-31 victory. After a bye week, TCU would beat West Virginia at home. The next two weeks they would beat both Kansas and Kansas State in routs.

A trip to Ames, Iowa to take on conference sleeper Iowa State would end in the first lost of the season for TCU. The following week, they bounced back with a win over Texas.

TCU sits at 8-1 overall and 5-1 in conference with three games to play. With the Big 12 conference game pitting the top two teams in the conference, the Horned Frogs are set up pretty nicely to play for the conference title. They would like to top it with making their first College Football Playoff appearance.
