College Football Playoff 2017: Case for the TCU Horned Frogs
By Shane Lunnen
Case for TCU
TCU’s biggest win so far is over Oklahoma State. Against the Cowboys, they took control of the game in the second quarter and they never were in any real danger of losing it the rest of the way.
TCU can add another big victory against Oklahoma. A lot is riding on this game since both teams have one loss. The loser will most likely be eliminated from playoff contention, but could still make the Big 12 championship game and have a say in who does end up in the final four.
After their visit to Oklahoma, TCU visits Texas Tech and concludes the season with a home game against Baylor. The Red Raiders can be tricky but the Bears have struggled all season and should be an easy victory for TCU. If TCU wins out, they will be looking good as long as they can win the Big 12 championship. The title game could be a re-match against Oklahoma.
In regards to on the field, TCU actually plays defense in a conference that generally does not. Through nine games, they have allowed just under 14 points per game which is good for 6th in the country. The Horned Frogs have allowed the sixth least yards per game in the country and the next closest team in the Big 12 is Iowa State at 40th. Good luck running against them as they are the best in the country, allowing less than 70 yards per game. They are stingy and if the Horned Frogs do find themselves in the playoff, their defense will come in handy against the other top teams.
