2. This game is decided by a turnover late in the game

A lot has been said about the offensive play of both of these teams. However, not enough is said about their strength of defense. Each team is ranked in the top three in the SEC in either forced fumbles or interceptions on the year. Auburn is second in the SEC and 14th in the nation in terms of fumbles recovered with nine on the year. Georgia is third in the SEC with eight total interceptions on the season.

The difference? Auburn’s defensive production seems more spread out between players. Of their nine fumble recoveries and four interceptions, each went to a different player. However, their shining star is Jeff Holland who forced four of those nine fumbles.

Georgia’s turnovers are more concentrated between three players. Dominick Sanders has three interceptions on the year and J.R. Reed has two. Reed also has two fumble recoveries to his name. Both fumbles forced and fumbles recovered are led by the likes of Lorenzo Carter.

However you slice it, these teams thrive off turnovers. Whoever wins this game will win it in the turnover margin of that I am certain.
