Which Group of Five underdogs could destroy the point spread and emerge victorious this week? Here are five upset threats for Week 11.
Before this week’s Group of Five upset threats could get to press, we already saw one of the most impactful upsets of Week 11 action. In Wednesday-night #MACtion, the Ohio Bobcats took down New Year’s Six contender Toledo in a showdown of MAC division leaders.
The game, a possible preview of the MAC title game being held in Detroit on the first Saturday of December, ended up in a veritable mismatch as the Bobcats routed the Rockets 38-10 at home as a three-point underdog. Central Michigan also won at home as an underdog against the spread, taking down Eastern Michigan 42-30 in Mount Pleasant.
While the win by the Bobcats might prove to be the most significant upset by a Group of Five team this week, there are still plenty of other chances for underdogs to make statements in Week 11. Across the country, there will be teams on upset alert. Whether in conference play or not, there is bound to be at least a few more surprises in store.
With that in mind, it is time to dive into the point spreads to get a feel for who might make noise and raise eyebrows this week. In no particular order, here are five Group of Five teams that could pull off upsets in Week 11 action. (All betting lines courtesy of Sportsbook Review.)
