3. Josh Adams rushes for over 200 yards

Notre Dame running back and Heisman candidate Josh Adams has eclipsed 200 rushing yards twice this season, once against Boston College and another time against the sixth overall rush defense in NC State. Adams was expected to be a smaller factor against the Wolfpack, with many expecting him to be shut down similarly to how he was against Georgia.

However, Adams performed well under pressure, putting up 202 rushing yards and a score on a whopping 27 carries. NC State had allowed three yards per carry up to that point, but Adams finished the day with a solid 7.5 average himself.

Miami comes into this game with a less intimidating run defense than NC State as they average over 172 rushing yards per game on the season, good for only 68th in the country. However, that stat could be a tad skewed as the Canes have faced about 43 rushes per game up to this point. Miami’s defense does boast a more respectable four yards per carry average, good for 41st in the nation.

All things considered, head coach Brian Kelly is going to run Adams as much as possible after receiving only five carries last week. With a fresh Adams only two weeks removed from his last 200 yard performance, don’t be surprised if the third year junior puts together another similar performance this week against Miami.
