Texas football hopes to bounce back from a Week 10 loss to TCU. They welcome Kansas to Austin and are looking to avenge last years loss to the Jayhawks.
Texas got their fifth loss of the season at the hands of TCU in Fort Worth in Week 10. They hope to bounce back against Kansas in Austin. Kansas lost to Baylor in Week 10 becoming the Bears only win. Texas plans to have similar fortunes against the Jayhawks in Week 11. The Longhorns cannot have a repeat of last year when the Longhorns lost to Kansas.
Texas is 4-5 on the year and need two more wins to become bowl eligible. The Longhorns have Kansas, West Virginia and Texas Tech still left on their schedule. One would think you could pencil in a win against Kansas but after last years debacle nothing in certain. One thing in the Texas’ favor is their defense which has been playing lights out this year.
Kansas is still looking for their first conference win this season. The Jayhawks last one came in 2016 against Texas in Lawrence. Kansas is 1-8 this season with their only win against an FCS opponent in Week 1. Kansas was destroyed in Week 10 by a previously winless Baylor team.

Keys to Victory
Texas needs to score early and often. Kansas has had some success when they get confidence. Texas needs this game to be over in first half. The Longhorns defense has played outstanding and should be able to shut down the Jayhawks. The offense however has struggled. Texas hopes to have Sam Ehlinger available for Saturday. If he isn’t they will go with Shane Buechele who struggled against TCU.
Texas should have plenty of motivation for this game. The Longhorns are two wins away from bowl eligibility. A win against Kansas means they only have to win one of the final two games. Payback should also be a factor. Kansas defeated Texas last year and spawned a plethora of internet memes and jokes at Texas’ expense.

Texas should have no problem with Kansas this year. The Longhorns will jump on Kansas early and will never look back. Shane Buechele plays a good game and has two passing touchdowns in the first quarter alone. Texas will add two more on the ground and the Longhorns will have a commanding lead at halftime.

Kansas will score a touchdown in third quarter and a field goal in the fourth. However this game is long over before then. Jerrod Heard will quarterback for most of fourth quarter. Texas will leave this game with a blow out win and one step closer to bowl eligibility.
