Florida State football had No. 4 Clemson on the ropes, but fell 31-14 to the Tigers, endangering their postseason hopes.
The Florida State Seminoles began the 2017 football season ranked No. 3 overall with a College Gameday appearance against then-No. 1 Alabama. The game did not end in a Seminoles win, but the news from that game was the season-ending injury to their star quarterback Deondre Francois.
Since that game, the Seminoles have been less than mediocre- losing games to opponents they normally would crush on a consistent basis.
Now sitting at 3-6 following their loss to Clemson, the Seminoles are in danger of missing the postseason for the first time in 36 years. In other words, the Seminoles have been to a bowl game in each of the last 35 seasons- tied for the longest streak ever in the history of college football.
Florida State previously had a non-conference game against Louisiana-Monroe canceled due to the hurricane weather with no hopes to reschedule, that is- until now.
Prior to their week 11 matchup against Clemson, Florida State had three games remaining at a 3-5 record. The Seminoles, fearing the worst, called to reschedule the game against UL-Monroe and will now be played on Saturday, Dece. 2nd, the day of conference championships. A desperate, yet much-needed move if the Seminoles wish to keep their bowl streak alive.
Here is what the Seminoles at 3-6 are looking at the rest of the year:

With no more conference games, the Seminoles have a solid chance to finish 6-6 with two non-power five teams on their schedule and a road game against the struggling Florida Gators. It has been a season to forget for Florida State, but the effort to make something out of it has to be commendable.
