With Iowa State football trailing 31-28 to Oklahoma State in the fourth quarter, Allen Lazard made the touchdown catch of the season.
One of the biggest surprise teams of college football this season has been Iowa State and the Cyclones just keep hanging with the big boys of the Big 12. Not only did they beat Oklahoma on the road earlier this year, but they downed TCU as well.
On Saturday afternoon, the No. 21 Cyclones had a shot to take down yet another ranked team as No. 15 Oklahoma State came to Ames.
The game was back-and-forth for the most part, but the Cyclones were down a key player when Kyle Kempt went down with an injury. He was replaced by Zeb Noland and all hope for another upset seemed to be out the window.
However, the backup played well despite not getting any action this season. He kept the Cyclones in the game and even threw a couple of impressive passes which resulted in big gains.
No pass was bigger than his toss to All-Big 12 receiver Allen Lazard, though. He tossed it to the end zone and Lazard made one of the most impressive concentration-based one-handed catches in recent memory.

Lazard continues to impress as he’s been one of the best receivers in the country this season. Coming into the game, he had 44 catches for 526 yards and five touchdowns. This reception was his second touchdown of the day.

Don’t be surprised if you see Lazard’s name called early in next year’s draft. He’s been one of the more impressive pass-catchers in the nation. This touchdown was a prime example of that.
