The Buckeyes took the lead in the Big Ten East race on Saturday. Here are three takeaways from the Week 11 showdown between Ohio State and Michigan State.

In a matchup for the lead in the Big Ten East, Ohio State made life miserable for Michigan State in Columbus on Saturday. The Buckeyes were up by five touchdowns before the Spartans managed to get on the scoreboard with a field goal before halftime. Mark Dantonio’s team had no answers to stop their hosts.

The matchup between No. 12 Michigan State and No. 13 Ohio State looked like one of the best games of Week 11. Instead it proved to be a mismatch, as the Buckeyes ran up the score in a 48-3 blowout. It wasn’t a perfect performance for Urban Meyer’s crew, but it was an astounding result even with the missteps by the home team along the way.

Now Ohio State is back in sole possession of the lead atop the Big Ten East. The Buckeyes look like a lock to get to Indianapolis in December. If they manage to win the league title, a College Football Playoff spot could still be in play.
