Penn State football tried to shake off the last two weeks of close losses. Here are three takeaways from a 35-6 victory over the Scarlet Knights.
The last two weeks of Penn State football has been very frustrating for the team and its fans. Two close road losses against Ohio State and Michigan State have taken the Nittany Lions out of playoff contention and all but mathematically eliminated them from the Big Ten East race.
Penn State started slow against Rutgers this week. They let Rutgers score on their first two drives, but luckily for the Lions it was only two field goals. The Lions finally woke up on offense, leading 14-6 at halftime. In the second half, Penn State took control of the game and ended it with a 35-6 victory.
The win now puts Penn State at 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the conference. A 10-win season is still within their grasp, but the Big Ten East is pretty much out of the question at this point.
For Rutgers, they now drop to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in the conference. They will need wins over both Indiana and Michigan State to finish bowl eligible. It will be a tall order for the Scarlet Knights.
Here are the three biggest takeaways from Penn State’s 35-6 victory over Rutgers.
