Texas A&M defeated New Mexico 55-14 on Senior Night at Kyle Field. It was the final game called by famed Aggie announced Dave South and the 50th victory of Kevin Sumlin‘s tenure at Texas A&M. It was also the first win in November for the Aggies, something that has become a problem for the team in recent years.
Nick Starkel earned his first start since the season opener against UCLA and the maroon and white struck early and often. New Mexico, under the direction of former Texas A&M defensive coordinator Bob Davie, was largely silent outside of a 100-yard kickoff returned for a touchdown by speedster Elijah Lilly. The score was one of two New Mexico touchdowns in the game.
The Aggies improve to 6-4 (3-3) with win the win while New Mexico falls to 3-7. Here are three things we learned from the Texas A&M victory.
