Few coaches are on as hot of a seat as Texas A&M football’s Kevin Sumlin as he looks to keep the Aggies bowl hopes going in Week 11.

Texas A&M football has hit a downturn for the 2017 campaign very quickly under head coach Kevin Sumlin. The Aggies were once contenders for a good placing to finish the year in the SEC West. However, two straight losses have brought up some new questions for the Aggies in the final weeks of the regular season.

Each time the Aggies finish with a mediocre result after the departure of Johnny Manziel after the 2013 campaign, the fan base gets less and less patient. Nothing has been consistent for one year after another for Sumlin aside from the amount of wins to expect each season.

In Week 11, Texas A&M takes on the New Mexico Lobos with a chance to get back on the right track. The Aggies have five wins entering the New Mexico game and need only one more to get bowl eligible. Texas A&M’s fan base does have higher expectations than just making a low level bowl game, though.

Since leaving the Big 12, the Aggies have struggled to find footing in the SEC West. It’s the toughest division in college football to play in week in and week out. Slip up for just a few weeks out of the season, and you will be out of contention before you can blink an eye.

One of the more disappointing results of the season came in the last two weeks in convincing defeats against the No. 10 ranked Auburn Tigers and No. 16 ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs. Texas A&M fell to the bottom of the SEC West standings fast. Sumlin is partly to blame for that.

Here are five reasons that Kevin Sumlin cannot save his job with the Texas A&M Aggies.
