Stanford, since dropping two of their first three games, had gone on a bit of a wining streak. That ended with a three-point loss to Washington State in Week 10, but Stanford had definitely shown improvement as the season went on.

That set up an intriguing matchup on Friday night. Washington took an early lead on a pair of Myles Gaskin touchdown runs. Yet after the 11:37 mark in the second quarter the Huskies scored just eight points. Stanford executed their gameplan perfectly and kept Jake Browning off the field. The Cardinal won the time of possession battle, controlling the ball for 36:05 on their way to a 30-22 upset of the ninth ranked team in the nation.
