It would be easy to throw Notre Dame football back to the curb after their 41-8 loss to Miami this past Saturday night.

The Irish remain a strong Top-10 program that is looking great moving forward, but the loss against Miami was certainly a major setback. However, the future remains bright through the loss. The “Notre Dame” image appears to be re-born after a rough patch, as Brian Kelly has plenty of strong pieces to work with over the rest of this season and into 2018.

Add in wins over NC State and Southern Cal, and if the Irish can finish out strong, major bowls will be knocking down their door to get them to come. Why? because Notre Dame still draws even in defeat.

With that being said, and the notion that the Irish have lost any chance at competing for the national title, here are five overreactions from the loss to the Hurricanes.

5. Brian Kelly needs to go

Fans of the Fighting Irish are likely screaming and yelling like little children for officials to get rid of Kelly. They have been against him since his arrival for the most part, which is understandable as he definitely doesn’t give off a “warm and cuddly” feeling. But Kelly has these Irish pointed in the right direction even though Miami completely handed it to them this weekend.

Brandon Wimbush looked like an injured quarterback out on the field, and against the “Turnover Chain,” that just spelled disaster. Josh Adams, who seemed to be on his way to contending for the Heisman, also looked banged up and a shell of his former self from a few weeks back.

Add in the turnovers, and the Irish really had no chance to get out of Miami with their national title hopes still intact. But brighter days remain ahead, even though a daunting schedule will see them finish with Navy and Stanford.
