UCLA Football: 3 takeaways from shootout win over Arizona State

In a shootout at the Rose Bowl, UCLA football pulled off its fifth victory of the season. Here are three things we learned from the win by the Bruins.
Entering the season, both UCLA and Arizona State had dreams of getting back to a bowl game after failing to reach the postseason in 2016. Todd Graham and Jim Mora were also coaching for their jobs, as both found themselves on the hot seat after down years.
On Saturday night, UCLA and Arizona State played a barnburner in #Pac12AfterDark action. The Bruins and Sun Devils, both playing to get to bowl eligibility, traded punches in Pasadena in late-night West Coast action. The two teams combined for over 1000 yards of offense at the Rose Bowl. Swapping the lead back and forth, UCLA ultimately came through for a 44-37 victory.
The win pushed the Bruins to within one game of bowl eligibility. UCLA has two more games in the regular season against rivals USC and California to get that sixth win. After entering the year with high hopes of contending in the Pac-12 South, the Bruins are now in a fight just to get back to the postseason.
