College Football Playoff 2017: Projected Top 4 for Week 12
By Jesse Smith
After one of the wildest weeks in recent memory, here’s what he 2017 College Football Playoff top four might look like after Week 11.
To describe Week 11 in one word: chaos. Georgia and Notre Dame got beat down, Alabama barely escaped against Mississippi State, Clemson had a tough go against Florida State, TCU got beat down and Washington caught a fade (a loss).
On Tuesday, the College Football Playoff rankings will be released, but I’m going to give you my projected top four teams.
4. Clemson Tigers
Before the season started when you looked at the schedule, you probably expected the Clemson vs. Florida State game to be a crucial one for the ACC, but with all of the injuries that have hit the Seminoles, they are now playing true freshman quarterback James Blackman and the season is out of whack.
Clemson took care of business against Florida State, winning 31-14, but it was a close game until late in the fourth quarter when Blackman was picked off by junior safety Van Smith. Just up 17-14 before the interception, Clemson went on to add 14 salt points to Florida State’s wound.
Quarterback Kelly Bryant didn’t have an impressive Week 11, but made enough plays to help his team come out on top. He only threw for 151 yards, but he ran for 61 yards and a touchdown. Running back Travis Etienne picked up the slack with 97 yards on 14 carries and two touchdowns.
Right now, Clemson is on a collision course with Miami for the ACC Championship to see who will get a College Football Playoff spot. Against the hot Hurricanes, they will have to have a better performance than they had against the struggling Seminoles if they want to win.
